Dotsume/high-density jersey fabric is an extra-thick material of approximately 11.5 ounces, made from American cotton and knitted on a loop-wheel knitting machine. As it's knitted very slowly, each knitting machine can only produce about 30 pieces per day, but it is characterised by its ability to evenly pack the yarn and its resistance to shrinkage and distortion even after repeated wear and washing.

The fabric is fairly windproof due to its high-density knitting, and it also has the inherent warmth of knitwear. The collar and pockets are made of a different fabric, and the entire body is overdyed. The black version shown here has pockets made from a cotton/linen blend.
